The Cut, proudly supported by YouTube, invited filmmakers to create the first official music videos for three of Elton John’s most famous songs. Watch their video here:
Of course, this project is a big deal. It’s Elton John, get on with the classics! The project has given aspiring filmmakers to create and re-imagine some visuals for Elton John’s 3 hit songs – Tiny Dancer, Bennie & The Jets, and Rocket Man.
Elton John has been singing this songs for over 40 years, and the pressure IS REAL.
“It can’t just be a good video, it need to be an iconic video,” says one of the chosen filmmakers
And we are definitely expecting great stuff from these amazing filmmakers. The Cut got numerous submissions for 3 categories – Animation, Live Action, and Choreography. Elton John and his team wanted to give chance to young artists with fresh ideas and treatment
TINY DANCER
“A real slice of L.A.”
As an aspiring filmmaker myself, this music video speaks volumes to me. It’s a real slice of life – like, how you would just randomly jam out to the lyrics of Tiny Dancer whenever it plays on your car radio.
Check out director Max Weiland‘s treatment for the video!
ROCKET MAN
Now this music video has got to be one of the most sincere and genuine artwork you’ve seen recently. It definitely did not disappoint, and most importantly, did not disappoint Elton John.
“Rocket Man is me” says the director of the music video.
BENNIE & THE JETS
This video is probably the most stunning choreography video that I’ve seen for a while. Just check it out!
