The xx’s frontwoman Romy announced her solo project back in April.

Known for writing club music, co-writing her band’s acclaimed albums, and writing songs for big names like Mark Ronson, Benny Blanco, Jehnny Beth, and most recently Dua Lipa’s winning hit single ‘Electricity’, Romy is serving us new work with her solo music.

Solo Music

In an Instagram Live on April, Romy announced that her debut solo album is on the way. Without giving away more details, Romy confirmed that her solo work will be more upbeat and will not be guitar music. And now, the time has come, because Romy’s first solo track, ‘Lifetime’ is out on all music streaming platforms!

Written and recorded in London in the midst of the lockdown, ‘Lifetime’ is a combination of her love for club music and DJing. It is a masterpiece of driving, warm, club-influenced pop. With the up-beat sound of the song and the dreamy lyrics of being reunited with loved ones and the euphoria of being together again, ‘Lifetime’ will surely make you dance and feel the moment.

The single also comes with a lyric video by designer Patrick Savile and animator Connor Campbell. Check it out below!

Surely, ‘Lifetime’ is just the start of a moment of escapism and an exciting preview of what’s to come from the London-based singer and songwriter!
