The highly anticipated ‘THE ALBUM’ by Teyana Taylor did not disappoint, tops the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop, #8 on Billboard 200
Still reeling from her Best Director nod on recently held BET Awards; us simply saying that 2020 has been going well for Teyana Taylor would be a massive understatement.
Her album, ‘THE ALBUM’, received critical and commercial success. It not only topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, but it also peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, the highest debut of her impressive career.
Guess what? to top it all of, a special message was made via her new music video, “Wake Up Love”, as she and husband announced their pregnancy with their second child. So Sweet!

Aptly released on Juneteenth (June 19th) — the celebration of the emancipation of slavery in the US in 1865 — Teyana ushers in a no holds barred approach, tackling the systematic racism in the US. The record is a raw look on Teyana’s mind, it thrusts her into the spotlight, without any intervention.
‘THE ALBUM ‘ features big name artists like Erykah Badu, Missy Elliott, Future, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Quavo, Rick Ross, Big Sean, among others. It is the highly anticipated follow up to K.T.S.E., Teyana’s second album, one of five albums produced by Kanye West under G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam.
The ambitious 23-track album is a huge jump from K.T.S.E.’s eight. Not only is it longer, but it is also more complex and intricate, as Teyana got to fully express herself and not be confined to an 8-track album.
As she was given more creative freedom compared to her past albums, the release of ‘THE ALBUM’ is poised to be Teyana Taylor’s breakout moment, after several fumbles in the past, she scores a clean hit in this record.
