At about 3:30 a.m. on January 21, the DeKalb County Police Department responded to a shooting incident in Panthersville, Georgia, where Rooks was found dead in the roadway having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The police had no suspect at the time.
Later, the police were able to identify Rooks as Silento’s cousin. Upon further investigation, they were able to point out the rapper as the person responsible for Rooks’ death. This was after the responding officers collected CCTV footage from nearby houses, and found one video capturing several cars fleeing the scene. Investigators have yet to uncover the motive for the shooting.
This is not the first time Silento got involved in a crime. In August 2020, the ‘Cards’ rapper was arrested twice following two separate incidents, one on domestic disturbance and one on assault with deadly weapon charges. Two months later, he got into another legal trouble after being caught committing multiple traffic violations.
Hawk rose to fame in 2015 for his song ‘Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),’ which became a worldwide hit and dance craze. The song, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, has over 1.7 billion views as of this writing. The rapper also released an album called ‘SKYROLYRICS’ in 2020, although it didn’t become as popular as his one hit single.
