Another week means another set of discovering new releases on our OPM Disc!

Feeling a little adventurous? Today, we’re taking you on a detour from the mainstream and exploring the terrain of the “indieground” here in our own backyard for some new OPM artists we have yet to behold this February 2021.

Come join us on a smooth ride, cruisin’ to the beats of these OPM reppin’ breakthrough artists.

Gavin Santi, REYNE

Similar sound to: Bryson Tiller, Miguel, Eric Bellinger

While they aren’t exactly a duo, their styles are unmistakably meant for each other. Hence why their explosive collab track “Miss You” exuded utter dynamism that can belong only to the most compatible of singers. No wonder since this isn’t the first time they collaborated so they might as well have been an r&b duo.

The two are Sound Cloud babies, Gavin Santi and REYNE, who have both collaborated on at least 5 other tracks before. Both are US-based singer-songwriter-producers and although information through their social media doesn’t explicitly say they’re Filipino, their covers of Filipino songs all around are probably testament enough to their Pinoy citizenship.

Louis Angelo

Similar sound to: Jason Dhakal, Joji, Khalid

Of course, an OPM list would never be complete without some ballad mixed in. Louis Angelo, is one r&b singer whose hypersexual tracks bloom with his soulful balladeer voice.

Although still a breakthrough artist, Louis Angelo’s following is rapidly growing in numbers making his way through to the mainstream a clean straight shot from here. If not as an artist himself, then most definitely as a talented producer who, by the way, also produced one of last year’s OPM Disc tracks by Jemay Santiago!

Jerrold Angeles

Similar sound to: Mac Demarco, Rex Orange County, Phum Viphurit

Basically, if you’re a person of the gig scene, Jerrold Angeles’ sound is much too nostalgic much too soon. His soothing voice complimented by his bluesy guitars with matching delay transports listeners to the smell of smoke and stale beer in a cramped room with sweaty groupies eyes closed and swaying to the grooves.

Since putting out his first song in 2019, this Bulacan native with an old soul has already released numerous singles and even a six-track album. Showing great promise and indelible talent and versatility.
