Listen to Ella Jay Basco, Yeoj of Sandiwa, and Raven! | OPM Disc

Another week means another set of discovering new releases on our OPM Disc!

Feeling a little adventurous? Today, we’re taking you on a detour from the mainstream and exploring the terrain of the “indieground” here in our own backyard for some new OPM artists we have yet to behold this February 2021.

Come join us on a joyride, cruisin’ to the beats, and jammin’ to the tunes of these OPM reppin’ breakthrough artists.

Ella Jay Basco

Similar sound to: Maisie Peters, Ana of the North, Stephanie Poetri

Fil-Korean Ella Jay Basco tickled our hearts crazy with her latest collab track with resident Fil-Am rapper, Ruby Ibarra in inspirational track “Gold” taking pride in the “kayumanggi” that comes with being an awesome Pinoy. Ending the song with a soaring “brown and I’m proud” statement on repeat, just like how we got this absolute bop on repeat!

But it’s not just this song that’s got us swooning over this teenage pinay based in the states, her other releases like “Miss Popularity” or her nod to a Birds of Prey character in “The Ballad of Cassandra Cain” are also absolute bops that prove just why she’s worthy of fawning over.

Yeoj Rivera of Sandiwa

Similar sound to: Eraserheads, SUD, Callalily

While Yeoj Rivera isn’t necessarily a solo artist, his recent collaboration with Pinoy rap’s one and only Gloc 9 has the potential to amass Rivera’s very own following. In B.P.B. we hear the soulful voice of Yeoj in perfect contrast with Gloc9’s straight cut bars.

Just like Rivera’s voice, his band Sandiwa’s music also taps into the more soulful side of music. A side that will only move more and more fans through the years which we’ll witness as we follow them now in their young career.

Raven

Similar sound to: Keshi, Fern., Peach Tree Rascals

Pairing up his macho rap with undernotes of twinkling melodics and a ukulele accompaniment, Raven’s sound is one that’s probably unique to himself. Recently signed into Sony Music Philippines, “Paraluman” is Raven’s debut track and a very promising one at that. Making it easy to look forward with much optimism and excitement to whatever he’s working on releasing soon!
