It’s about time these two R&B powerhouses join forces.

In a cryptic exchange on Twitter, Alicia Keys and Khalid were seen teasing fans with what appears to be a collaboration. The former tweeted a short recorded clip flaunting her signature soulful voice as she sang: “Because I’m so, so done/I’m living the way that I want.”  Khalid was tagged in the tweet.

I think it’s time”, the 39-year-old singer-songwriter wrote in the caption.

Khalid replied with, “Yup.”

If this is, indeed, new music, it will follow Alicia Keys’ latest single, ‘Perfect Way To Die,’ which she dropped in June amidst the Black Lives Matter protests in America. Said track was the ‘Fallin’ hitmaker’s take on “system of racism that looks at Black life as unworthy” and “the culture of police violence”. It will also be part of her upcoming album, ‘Alicia.’

In the same month, Khalid launched his single, ‘Experience,’ made in collaboration with Victoria Monét and SG Lewis. The song was also dropped in the wake of the protests. “We’ve always used music as a form of escapism from troubling things,” said the trio in a statement.

“This song, though deep in subject matter, sonically simply feels joyful and celebratory. It’s important to us to highlight and celebrate Black joy and love in the middle of so much pain and trauma.”
