Another week means another set of discovering new releases on our OPM Disc!
Feeling a little adventurous? Today, we’re taking you on a detour from the mainstream and exploring the terrain of the “indieground” here in our own backyard for some new OPM artists we have yet to behold this January 2021.
Come join us on a smooth ride, cruisin’ to the beats of these r&b reppin’ newbies.
Jehu Jairus is a local musician on the rise from the Astral Mind Music Collective, stitching soul and sound together from his own everyday struggles. In his latest release, ‘Kausapin’ speaks of a romantic yearning and boasts Jairus’s smooth-flowing vocals making him a much-awaited name in the music scene.
Hailing from the beautiful Southern Luzon region of Bicol, Fred Engay is a multi-hyphenate artist leading a horde of artists as well under the Alab at Sinag Pilipinas collective. Having a sound akin to traditional Filipino acoustic guitar wielders, Fred advocates and promotes Bicolano talent.
All of Fred Engay’s songs are a must to listen to but starting with Katabi sets the tone for such gems of undiscovered new OPM artists.
Although a relatively new artist, Soulthrll has already amassed a steady stream of fans from social media. Avid listeners from all over the country come for the hype but stay for the vibe and the chill sounds of Soulthrll’s releases.
His latest track ‘Ayay Ka’ boasts of the artist’s Cagayan de Oro roots. Like his name suggests, streaming his songs is an absolute thrill to the soul and smooth ride for the spirit. Definitely watch out for more from this rapidly rising new OPM artist this 2021!
