As we go deeper and deeper into the raging pandemic, it also gets increasingly lonely.

Maroon 5’s music video for their latest single, ‘Nobody’s Love‘, perfectly captures that feeling.

Set at a rooftop one lonely evening in Los Angeles, it shows the band frontman, Adam Levine– with his full beard and cleanly shaved head– singing and isolated from everyone else. “You could make a grown man cry, if you ever said goodbye,” begins the 41-year-old singer-songwriter, reflecting on his feelings for someone.

A call to decriminalize Marijuana

From Adam’s quarantine look to the minimal production, everything in the music video is looking raw. The entire thing was actually filmed using an iPhone. It was directed by David Dobkin who had also previously worked with the band for “Sugar,” “Girls Like You,” and “Memories”– their last release prior to this one.

Halfway through the video, it’s revealed that the table in front of him actually has weeds on it. We then see Adam rolling a joint and lighting it up. At this point, you’ll start to wonder if his reiteration of the line, “Never let you go,” throughout the song pertains to someone or to the marijuana he’s smoking, especially now that we hear him singing, “You’re the only hand in my back pocket, if you ever left I go psychotic.”

The video ends with a message from ACLU of Southern California. It’s time to end the War on Marijuana. The aggressive enforcement of marijuana possession laws needlessly ensnares hundreds of thousands of people into the criminal justice system and wastes billions of taxpayers’ dollars,” says the quote.

What’s more, it is carried out with staggering racial bias. Despite being a priority for police departments, the War on Marijuana has failed to reduce marijuana use and availability and diverted resources that could be better invested in our communities.” The band has previously pledged that together with their label Interscope Records, they will be making a donation to ACLU of Southern California.

Maroon 5 have recently announced the new dates for their 2021 U.S. concert tour, which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They will also be performing ‘Nobody’s Love‘ on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on August 10th. Watch the official music video for Nobody’s Love below.
