While Slapshock is known for their heavy music and angsty songwriting, they decide to adapt to the global pandemic situation in the country and keep things lighter.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the five-piece heavy metal band drops their latest single “Sana Pag Gising” in the hopes of uplifting the spirits of our frontline workers and anyone feeling the weight of being isolated from the world.

For the frontliners

Slapshock vocalist Jamir Garcia says, “The song started nung mga nakikita ko yung frontliners na hindi man lang nila mayakap ang mga anak nila so, yung song ay nasa perspective ng isang frontliner at tungkol sa hirap at dasal nila– na sana pag gising tapos na ‘to lahat.”

He added, “Mahirap mag-rock out  dahil nangingibabaw yung emotions and burden to know na maraming nahihirapan at nagdadasal.”

Inspired by our modern-day heroes — our medical workers, policemen, and volunteers– Jamir wrote the song and worked with the band as they self-quarantined. Through digital technology, they passed audio and video files back and forth until ‘Sana Pag Gising’ came into existence.

Having been making music and performing for 23 years now, Slapshock is composed of Jamir , Lee Nadela (bass guitar), Lean Ansing (guitar), Jerry Basco (guitar) and Chi Evora (drums). Sana Pag Gising can be streamed on Slapshock’s platforms. You can also get the latest updates on the band on their official Facebook and Instagram.
