Hayley Williams is back and she has just released ‘Simmer’, the lead single from her upcoming ‘Petals For Armor’ LP!

After the release of Paramore‘s “After Laughter” album last 2017, we have honestly been missing the band a lot. So when vocalist Hayley Williams announced last year that she would be putting out a solo LP of hers this 2020, we were just really thrilled to hear her iconic voice again.

This year on May 8th, we hope you stand by patiently because her LP titled ‘Petals For Armor‘ will be released!

Meanwhile, the lead single for the LP titled ‘Simmer‘ is already here and of course, it’s accompanied by a music video! But if like us you haven’t seen the video yet, watch it with us here by simply playing the YouTube clip below.

Honestly, we had to pause in between while watching. The music is obviously beautiful and Hayley’s voice is phenomenal but really, this video just gives us the heebie-jeebies!

Give in and simmer down

With that dark yet funky instrumental, we are really hooked with the song! Moreover, Hayley Williams’s voice just seems to enchant us with a spell about confronting our own feelings and finding comfort in the aftermath. As we can see in the video, it seemed like she was running from her own demons. Eventually, she then proceeds to conquer them.

“Simmer” has a wonderful message really, as she also mentions in the bridge that we could “wrap ourselves in petals for armor”, suggesting how she herself takes comfort in her own feminity.

If you must also know though, the producer of this wonderful song is Hayley’s bandmate and Paramore guitarist Taylor York. So even if this project serves as Hayley’s debut as a solo artist, it is still nice to know that her friends are still supporting her.

Frankly, our favorite part of the song was the angsty second verse, as the lyrics go:

If I had seen my reflection as something more precious
He would’ve never
Mmm, and if my child needed protection from a fucker like that man
I’d sooner gut him ’cause nothing cuts like a mother

With this, we just can’t really wait for the rest of the album to come!
