We’ve heard enough “hugot” songs. Earl Generao thinks so too, and he’s got a song to shut all of them up. ‘Puro Ka Hugot’ is out on Spotify now!

#Hugot has been popularized as a Filipino slang and it means to derive emotional meaning from other things. Lots of songs and films have been made about it, and, to be frank, they sometimes get bland! Earl Generao apparently feels the same way, as he argues that there are more important things to think about.

Earl Generao

We all know that if it’s a song by Earl Generao, it’s undoubtedly going to be a good one. Earl’s claim to fame is his amazing vocals. And don’t even get us started with the how well he plays the guitar! Have you heard ‘Lunas’? The last time, he stunned us with a double-video MV for that specific song. The message behind ‘Lunas’ is persuasive. The singer convinces the girl to let him into her life and telling her to let him find (or be) the cure for whatever hurt she’s been through. If you haven’t watched that video yet, we suggest you do!

The 23-year old has been around in the scene for a couple of years now and since then has been creating music!

‘Puro Ka Hugot’

From the title itself, we can already see what we’re in for. ‘Puro Ka Hugot’ chastises the Filipino habit of drawing emotions from everything! In saying, we already know that this isn’t going to be another love song.

‘Puro Ka Hugot’ is Earl’s third single under O/C records following ‘Lunas’ and ‘Katabi’. If you read the lyrics, you’d find the song really hilarious!

Daming kotse sa labas

Daming kotse sa Pinas

Kaya ang sabi mo “sa traffic may forever”

Isipan ay gamitin mo Sa bayan at sarili mo

Bago ka magparinig sayong “forever”

It’s true, though! There are lots of things that require our attention and energy other than making “hugot”. Earl will also hold a single launch! ‘It will be on June 13 (Thursday) at The 70’s Bistro, Anonas, Quezon City. So, be sure to save that date! You can also stream ‘Puro Ka Hugot’ on Spotify!
