International Label Island Records has finally arrived in the Philippines!
On a press conference held last July 21, international record label Island Records, home to esteemed artists such as Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Shawn Mendez, and Demi Lovato, has announced that it is now in the Philippines.
In the virtual presser hosted by Orange Conde, accompanied by the Managing Director of MCA Music, Enzo Valdez, they discussed the plans and details of the launch of the label here in the country. They gave a brief background of Island Records and what it stands for. Moreover, the roster of new and exciting talents were also introduced.
Island Records is a British-Jamaican record label owned by Universal Music Group, it was founded in 1959.
Enzo Valdez, the former CEO of Sindikato Management, introduced Island Records Philippines and its upcoming plans for the future. According to him, Island Records represents creativity, adventure, and authenticity, traits that he found in the six artists that they will be presenting. Furthermore, the label celebrates artistry individuality, style, brave and edgy concepts.
When asked why they chose the Philippines, Enzo Valdez wants indie artists and trendsetters to have a home, and to push these artists to greater heights with the platform and reach of Island Records.
Island Records is trying to find ways to improve and is generating ideas in dealing with the pandemic.
The grand launch will last for approximately 90 minutes, and will be hosted by actor Tony Labrusca.

Why Island Records?
The artists were asked a plethora of questions in the press conference, most notable is why did they choose to partner with Island Records.
They pretty much have the same sentiments. Choosing Island Records was an easy choice to make because it has an artist-first mindset with out of the box ideas to boot. Artistic freedom, which is an integral part to most artists, is not compromised. They are free to produce the music they want to.
So far, no collaborations between the six Island artists but all of them are open to it.
