Keith Martin is the man behind a lot of local music artists in the country. He has worked with numerous international icons as well, producing and writing songs for them. But aside from always being the force behind the curtain, he never left his passion for singing. No doubt, Keith is a great mentor for many music artists in the local community. However, being a musician at heart, he still sings and writes his own original songs. He believes that your passion never stops, even if you’ve mentored the greatest stars in the industry. And he shares us the songs closest to his heart, from day 1 up until now.
Because of You
Because of you, my life has changed,
thank you for the love and joy you bring
Because of you, I feel no shame,
I’ll tell the world it’s because of you
‘Because of You’ is Keith’s hit song. It made his life turnaround of 360 degrees. No doi, ‘Because of You’ encapsulates what love is, beyond physicality. I bet you’ve sung ‘Because of You’ countless times in the karaoke during family celebrations. Been there, done that. But as a child, growing up, singing love songs is just like reciting our ABCs. We don’t mind the lyrics too much, as long as we know it’s a love song. Way back, we never know what passionate love is. But as we grow older, our perspective on love deepens and our connection to our partners deepens as well. ‘Because of You’ describes that kind of passionate love for someone. That kind of love that you can’t get enough of. Making you fall hard for that person. An unadulterated love between two people. Once you hit past your teen years, that’s the kind of love we long for. Either we are the giving or receiving end of love.
Just For Me
I don’t want to be alone
Tired of being on my own
I need someone just for me
Indeed, it’s hard to find someone new. Before and after breaking up, the thought of being alone always pops into our minds. How hard it will be to go back to your usual singlehood routine. Then you’d miss all the memories you’ve shared with someone special. It’s hard. Keith’s original song, ‘Just For Me’, tells the longing and yearning for someone special. Someone who we can call our own. We long for love because the taste of love is bittersweet. Despite the rocky road you hit in one relationship, it doesn’t matter. What matters is who you are throughout the whole journey. Connecting to someone in a whole different emotional level is much different. Love surpasses all our ideas, beliefs and perspectives. And for most of us, to fall in love is as magical as it can get. So when we break up or lose someone we love, it hurts. Especially knowing that on the days ahead, you will be alone.
Sailing takes me away to where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Keith also sang the classic song, ‘Sailing’ by Christopher Ross. This proves Keith’s love for the classics, even though he works with artists who are into pop and mainstream songs. ‘Sailing’ refers to the tranquil journey of one person in life. We all know that life is full of ups and downs. And more often than not, we complain about the hardships we encounter in our everyday lives. There are moments that we live in the past because it troubles us that much. But ‘Sailing’ reminds us to savor the good moments as well. That we should learn to live in the moment, the good ones of course. Like sailing through the sea, life can be unpredictable. So savor each tranquil and serene moments as much as possible. So when the storm comes, you’d have something to hold on to until you get through the rough times.
Keith’s songs can be heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. And it’s great to know that he mentors a lot of rising artists in the local music community. With the music he’s shared with us, we know that the next generation of musicians is in good hands. So if you love Keith’s songs, follow him on Facebook and Instagram to be updated on his gigs.
