A rising band off to capture your hearts, Fourplay takes on the challenge of showing their truest selves with us at Music Dive.

An alternative rock band on the rise, Fourplay, has been all over the metro sharing their unique sound. As they open their doors to new opportunities, the band lets us into their world of music.

So be sure to check out the full interview of Fourplay right here! You’ll be surprised with what these guys have been through all throughout their music career starting from day one.

Fourplay MNL or simply Fourplay started out as a project band way back in 2013. Their goal back then was to join UST Soundcheck, where they placed first runner-up. Pio Bagnol, the vocalist and guitarist, found their victory as a chance to start out a band for real this time and try their luck in the booming local music industry.

As they ventured up until 2018, Fourplay grew from a four-man band to a six-piece band in no time, adding a lead guitarist and a keyboardist. Together with Pio, Fourplay has Tin Garcia on rhythm, Bogart Calubayan on bass and Jacob Pacifico on drums. Later on, they’ve added Lawrence Luna on lead guitars and Stephen Dela Cruz on keyboards, completing their sound.

Fourplay then and now

Indeed, they’ve come a long way to get where they are now. Even they all came from different walks of life, they stand on a common ground: their love for music. They all have different reasons for pursuing their music career. But if there’s one thing they all have in common, is that music is a way of life for them.

It has been and will always be a part of their whole being. It goes to show in their songs if you ask me. The band has gone through a lot. Both individually and as a collective. They’ve experienced conflicts with their day jobs or classes but they are enduring it. They try to make things work, knowing that they have something they want to voice out.

Day one of being a band seemed like a distant past. They’ve started small but now, step by step, they’re achieving milestones for everyone within their band.

Love, Hate, and Everything in Between

They might seem like your typical happy-go-lucky guys if you first meet them. But behind their bright personalities, they can be emotional and dramatic at the same time. According to Pio, they can actually be dark! And it reflects on the music they produce.

Their songs revolve around ‘Love, Hate, and Everything in Between‘. They take inspiration from their personal experiences in life. Heartbreaks, love stories, life learnings, and the likes. Because for them, life has a lot to offer. There’s a lot of stories to tell and to be heard by everyone. They don’t settle for one topic. As much as possible they tend to venture out of their comfort zones and build something beautiful from that.

Take their single, ‘One Night Stand‘, as an example. It’s something so trivial yet a lot of people can relate to. Right now, for them, Fourplay is definitely at the right spot. And they’ll be taking themselves to new heights soon.

Pursue your passion

The music industry can be harsh, especially for start-up bands. Success doesn’t happen overnight and truth to be told, it’s a tough road. Pursuing a career in the music industry is a gamble with several risks you have to take. You’d have to put a lot of effort to make things work. You may be successful and go big. You might not. It really depends on how much effort you put into it and how bad you want it.

Fourplay is no stranger to those kinds of struggles. Like other bands, they’ve started small and they might not call themselves big shots but they’re definitely trying their hardest to be the best that they can be. For them, success is just around the corner. The most important thing for them is to be heard. They aim for the satisfaction of their audience, knowing that they can relate to their own feelings through their songs. Knowing that somehow, they’ve helped the people in their own ways through their music.

What’s not to love about these guys, right? So I suggest that you listen to them and fall in love with Fourplay’s music. They’re on Spotify, people! And hopefully, we can have their entire EP on our playlist soon!
