Could you imagine Taylor Swift and Katy Perry finally joining forces to make music? Katy Perry asking the very same question is sending fans into a frenzy.
On what Swifties and KatyCats fans would consider as an incredibly fabulous day, the music world went into a collective YES, PLEASE after Katy asked her fellow American Idol judges a really important question. During a Hollywood duets week episode of the popular singing competition TV series, a performance of “You Don’t Own Me” by Idol hopefuls Camille Lamb and Althea Grace ended with Katy Perry describing both women as salt and pepper– two different things that must come together to be seasoned.
“The sum of you together is better than the sum of you apart,” Katy told the contestants, commending the respect for each other that allowed the pair to give a flawless rendition of Lesley Gore’s classic ballad. After informing the women that they are going through the next round of the competition, the “Firework” singer stopped them just as they walked off the stage and said, “That’s what queens do.”
And then what came next was something no one expected. Right after the performers left the stage, Katy Perry formed a huddle with the other judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, and asked them the question about a future team-up with the Folklore singer.
“Can you imagine if Taylor and I work together, what we could do?” Katy Perry said.
Why is this such a huge deal, some may ask. Well, for those who were not aware, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift had a long-running feud that haunted their names almost all throughout their career. It only ended in 2019, when the former showed up in the latter’s music video of “You Need To Calm Down.” Since then, rumors have circulated that the two pop stars would be making a song together, but none turned out to be true.
Do you think Katy Perry was dropping hints about the Katy-Taylor collaboration of our dreams? Or you think fans just want so badly to see the two queens working together? Watch the video where it all began below, and tell us what you think about it in the comments!
