The holiday season is coming! Along with that, we should be on the lookout for artists and their new Christmas songs.

Mariah Carey, Jose Mari Chan – these are Filipino household names already when it comes to Christmas hits. In fact, a lot of people even use this fact to fuel their humorous memes. However, despite these classic songs, we should also be open to celebrate the Christmas season with new tracks from other artists. One example is the American punk rock band Blink-182, who may be releasing their own Yuletide single soon.

I Won’t Be Home for Christmas (2001)

If you remember though, Blink-182 has also released a Christmas-themed song way, way back. However, titled ‘I Won’t Be Home for Christmas‘, it’s really not much of a Yuletide song. After all, it talks about the negative things a person usually goes through during the said celebration.

As a matter of fact, it is even included in a Spotify Playlist hilariously labelled ‘Screw Christmas’. Listen to the angsty track by simply clicking the Spotify Play button below.

Looking at the lyrics, the song is honestly something that we could relate to at some points in our lives. Just read the message of the chorus below:

It’s Christmas time again
It’s time to be nice to the people you can’t stand all year
I’m growing tired of all this Christmas cheer
You people scare me
Please stay away from my home
If you don’t wanna get beat down
Just leave the presents and then leave me alone

So looking at ‘I Won’t Be Home for Christmas’ and another similarly angsty song ‘Happy Holidays, You Bastard’, is it possible that Blink-182’s upcoming song may have the same ‘anti-Christmas’ message?

Here is what we know about it.

The drummer shares the good news

Travis Barker, the drummer of Blink-182, was the one who revealed the good news on Hannah Stocking’s YouTube show. When asked about songs he’s been recently listening to, Travis shared that aside from the artists Lil Wayne’s, he has been listening to a new Christmas song that he made with the band.

He hasn’t revealed other details about it yet, but hopefully an announcement will be coming out soon!
