Miley Cyrus is bringing us back to the ’70s with the release of her highly anticipated new album ‘Plastic Hearts.’
Fresh from the success of her summer hit “Midnight Sky” and her discotheque jam with Dua Lipa “Prisoner,” pop icon Miley Cyrus dropped her new album ‘Plastic Hearts’ via RCA Records. It’s her seventh studio album and features collaborations with other music trailblazers Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Dua Lipa.
The release of ‘Plastic Hearts’ comes with a letter written by Miley herself, in which the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker reveals that she started the album over 2 years ago. She also details her life-changing experiences that shaped the album.
“Thought I had it all figured out,” she wrote. “Not just the record—its songs/sounds but my whole fucking life. No one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished it was all erased, including most of the music’s relevance because everything had changed.”
“Plastic Hearts” is a collection of songs that pay homage to the sound of the ’70s and ’80s. It’s filled with bangers that will give listeners a refreshed sense of appreciation for retro music and glam rock. You can get a solid grasp of what the album offers just by looking at the cover art, which sees Miley Cyrus in her exaggeratedly vibrant costume– a look that will remind of the early 1970s fashion. It was actually photographed by iconic rock & roll photographer Mick Rock, who has previously worked with timeless legends like David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, and Debbie Harry.
