Who is she?
Born in Steinfurt, Germany, Weigel moved to Thailand at age 10 and started her journey to fame during her teenage years when she would upload cover versions of her favorite songs through her Youtube channel. With this, she grew a huge audience and became the first Thai singer to receive a gold-play button from Youtube.
Now a well-known superstar in Thailand, Weigel already has 3.6 million subscribers on Youtube, 3.2 million followers on Facebook, 1.7 million on Instagram, and more than 500,000 on Tiktok. Although she has already established herself as an actor, model, and influencer, singing has always been her biggest passion. “Singing is what truly makes me happy,” she said.
Why Red Records?
A label committed to shedding light on ASEANS’s talent, and dedicated to cultivating Asian artists and bringing Asian pop music onto a global stage, RedRecords CEO Hassan Choudhury shared, “When Tony Fernandes and I became aware of Jannine, our backgrounds in music and entertainment told us that this was an artist primed for worldwide success.” He continued, “With the ambition we have for RedRecords, along with extensive global marketing resources at our disposal, Jannine was the obvious choice as our first signing.”
With this, they have already partnered with US based iconic label Def Jam Recordings, known to have worked with Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Alessia Cara, to release Jannine’s music. With an audience like Weigel’s, this is the right direction for her. As she said, “I want to be able to inspire people out there. I feel like I’m proof that as along as you never give up, anyone can have a shot at achieving their dreams, no matter where they come from.”
Surely, ‘Passcode’ is just the start of something bigger and brighter for Jannine Weigel and RedRecords!
