“I’ve tasted love beyond all fear. And you should know it’s love that brought you here.”
Missing that song? Well, our former Miss Saigon captivates the viewers online through ‘Bayanihan Musikahan’ last April 2, Thursday. And through those small donations, Lea Salonga raised Php 1.5 million and counting within one hour in her FB live concert. If you want to catch up with her performance, you can still watch it on her Facebook account.
‘Bayanihan Musikahan’ is a fundraising series online created to help “the most vulnerable” daily wagers after Luzon’s lockdown due to the coronavirus. It kicked-off last month, starting with Ryan Cayabyab, the principal organizer of the project. In line with that, ‘Bayanihan Musikahan’ is piled up with a lot of our favorite OPM artists including Christian Bautista, Lea Salonga, Chito Miranda, Nyoy Volante, and many more who pledged for this fundraising series.
Courage of the Dreamer
Lea began her online performance with the composition of our National Artist for Music, Ryan Cayabyab. She also emphasized citizen action during this pandemic crisis. More so, she also entice everyone in helping citizens through giving our heart’s desire even if it is a small contribution.
To tell you, as the Broadway Superstar’s online concert proceeded, donations spiked up increasingly. In fact, the outpouring support from Filipinos on lock-down who watched from their homes are in the Philippines and of course, her audiences in overseas. The fundraising also will enable the certain deliveries of food packs to the marginalized communities in Metro Manila with extreme vulnerabilities.
In case you haven’t watched it yet, her online live concert will give you goosebumps! She performed ‘Nais ko’ ,‘Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal’, ‘Sana Maulit Muli and many more! Be sure to check it out and don’t forget to donate. As of now, there’s Php 2,362,645 raised for Philippine International Aid. There’s nothing more pleasing for our eyes and encouraging for our hearts with this kind of camaraderie.
We know that all of us will get through this crisis in time. Kudos to all of our OPM artists!
