Is it just us, or do the holidays make you miss old childhood Christmas movies?
Growing up, you would know that its officially the holidays when Christmas movies started playing on TV non-stop. So hop on the nostalgia train with us as we reminisce all the childhood Christmas movies that we miss!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Disney, Cartoon Network, or Nickelodeon kid. Chances are you watched these childhood Christmas movies at one point or another growing up. And for us, the lessons these movies taught us remains with us to this day.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas
So let’s start with the classic Dr. Seuss tale, How The Grinch Stole Christmas. And no, we’re not talking about the Illumination and Universal Pictures remake, The Grinch (2018). We’re talking about the Jim Carrey original from the year 2000. Growing up, this movie was everything. It taught us the true meaning of Christmas, and made us despise bullies. It also made us laugh. But most importantly it taught us that we should treat everyone with respect, even if they’re a little different than us.
The Polar Express
The Polar Express just brings us back to those moments when we’re all ready for bed and in our pajamas watching one last movie before bedtime. After all, Christmas is the best when you’re a kid. And just like the little boy in the movie, there were a lot of times when we doubted if Santa was real or not. This movie really solidified our faith in Santa as children.
Barbie in the Nutcracker
So although Barbie In The Nutcracker wasn’t exactly a Christmas movie, aside from the fact that the events of the movie happened on Christmas Eve. It did teach us a very valuable lesson in having faith in ourselves. Because just like Clara, we didn’t know what we were capable of until we tried. And it’s a very relevant life lesson that’s fun to remember during the holiday season.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol
Can you believe that this Disney classic has been around for 36 years? That’s right, because Mickey’s A Christmas Carol was released in 1983. But even though it’s been over three decades, the message of the film is still relevant up to today. Mickey’s A Christmas Carol took our favorite characters and put them in a scenario that still pulls at our heartstrings. And we grew up never wanting to be like Mr. Scrooge! Because along with the spirit of Christmas, is the spirit of giving. And when we give, it should be from the heart!
Home Alone 1-3
And who can forget the OG prankster of Christmas, Kevin McCallister! This movie series kept us entertained for years. And not to mention all the bright ideas we copped from the film. But aside from all the goofy hi-jinks, it taught us that sometimes its hard being in a family, and you don’t always get along. But when push comes to shove, they’ll be there when you need them.
We don’t know about you, but we’re going to be spending the rest of the holidays binge watching all these! Along with a nice steaming cup of hot chocolate. Happy Holidays, everyone!
