Lent season is almost here, and for most of us, that means no meat for a while. So say goodbye to Samgyupsal dates for now, and find Lent appropriate alternatives. And luckily for us, McDonald’s has provided the answer! Because the McDonald’s Fish and Fries and Filet-O-Fish are back!
Fish and Fries
The McDonald’s Fish and Fries is the American fast foods’ take on the classic UK meal Fish and Chips. It’s a little confusing, but in the UK they call thick cut french fries as chips. And interestingly enough they call potato chips as crisps. It’s good to learn something new every day, right? The McDonald’s Fish and Fries has a golden brown and crisp coating but has soft and tender fish meat on the inside. And it comes with your choice of a creamy tartar sauce or a sweet and sour sauce.
The McDonald’s Fish and Fries is priced at 155 PHP for one piece. And at 250 PHP for two pieces. Although it’s a classic combination, since we’re Asian, you can opt to exchange the fries for rice, free of charge!
The McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish is also back! So if you’re someone who doesn’t have the time to sit down and eat, a sandwich or a burger is always a good idea. So for this lent season, your on-the-go companion is the McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish! There is nothing like crispy golden brown fish in between two soft buns, and filled with creamy tartar sauce and a slice of cheese! The McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish is priced at 145 PHP. And the Double Filet-O-Fish is priced at 192 PHP, for those of you who need something a little heavier.
Overall, we’re always happy to see these two seasonal items on the McDonald’s menu whenever they come back. Especially since most fast and easy food places don’t always offer Lent-friendly options.
