Rihanna and Kylie Jenner are two of the most famous celebrities in the United States. And if we’re talking about royalty, these two definitely belong up in pedestals! Although not self-proclaimed, people treat them like queens in their respective industries. Both are insanely rich, so to say. While Rihanna has made her name popular in the music industry, Kylie has been a famous personality along with her sisters and family overall. But the two have something in common. They both have their own makeup lines, and we’re here to hopefully let you know the real deal. So we measured them up by 4 key characteristics. Which makeup line is better?

First off, you can’t tell if a product is better if you don’t buy it first. So before we get to that, it’s important to know about the line’s accessibility. In the US, you can actually avail Fenty Beauty products from a Sephora store and online, while for Kylie you can only buy the products online.

So it really depends if you prefer to go to the actual store so you can actually swatch with testers because let’s be real, the product shades on the websites don’t always come out looking the same once you receive the product. Ah, the beauty of online shopping. But there’s also the convenience part in online shopping, too. You just have to pay a certain shipping fee and right there and then, in the comfort of your home, you can order the product. Not to mention it saves you the hassle of wasting your time if the product you’re looking for is unavailable at the stores.

However, Sephora has yet to develop a physical store here in the Philippines. So as far as we’re concerned, we can only do online shopping for now. Sephora has a PH website and you can avail Kylie Cosmetics from Beauty MNL.

Right off the bat, I think we can all agree that Kylie started her line with and focused on lip kits. It was what she was known for and I can definitely remember a time when we all tried sucking our lips into little shot glasses only for them to end up swelling! Nonetheless, she has come up with different types of makeup as well. She has brush sets and eyeshadow palettes, too! Just recently, she has launched her very own skincare line called Kylie Skin, which she claims she has been using for about 10 months before it was even launched. It’s something she said she couldn’t go a day without. Seemingly, everyone was intrigued by it. It was already sold out the same day it was launched.

Talk about great advertising. Who doesn’t want skin like Kylie Jenner? Although most of us already know of her privileges to expert skincare because of her wealth and fame, she might just get us to believe that she brought all that to her very own products! The Kylie Skin set comprised of a foaming face wash, walnut face scrub, vanilla milk toner, Vitamin C serum, face moisturizer, and eye cream. All of them come in a minimalist pink packaging that everyone loves!

Fenty Beauty

On the other hand, Fenty Beauty’s firstly launched products were foundations. While Kylie’s products were more on lipsticks and eyeshadow, Fenty Beauty focuses more on the base products: foundations, concealers, highlight, and contour. But don’t get me wrong, Rihanna also made sure she had an eyeshadow palette and lip products in her collections. While she has the usual liquid lip colors, she has lip scrubs and stunning shades of lip gloss too! Aside from this, Rihanna has come up with very unique and new products like body lava and body glitter. Her brushes are of a unique structure, too. Her products are usually packaged in her signature hexagon and are elegantly colored.

Needless to say, both lines are packaged in the owner’s signature designs. Both are elegant and clean looking. And they have really different products, too. Even in the comparable part which are the lip products, they still have differences in the consistencies and shades which leaves it up to the buyer’s preference.

Okay, if we’re talking about shade range, it can really be hard to tell if it’s not with foundation. Fenty Beauty’s tagline has always been “beauty for all”, which tells us more than we need to know. The Pro Filt’r Foundation by Fenty Beauty came out with an inclusive 50-shade range. Pretty impressive for us Filipinas who always have trouble finding the perfect shade for our morena skins. So for foundation, definitely try out the Pro Filt’r ones, we’re sure they have a shade for you. For highlighters and contour, Rihanna’s products are also very inclusive. She has created shades that would fit dark and fair skin alike. If you’re into gloss, shimmer and shine these days, Fenty Beauty it is. IT’s sure to give you the glow you need.

Now, if we’re talking about lip colors and you want bolder, more colorful ones, Kylie should be your go-to. And we’re not saying that the Fenty ones aren’t cool. It’s just that they’re more about looking natural even with makeup on and bringing out the natural beauty. For adventurous lip color and eyeshadow choices, definitely check out Kylie’s. If your skin is quite fair, you can take a pick from all of the shades and I’m sure it will match you. If you’re tan or dark-skinned, however, you have to always have to be careful with lipstick shades because not everything will be flattering. But if you can rock it then go for it!

Price Point

Upon checking the website, we learned that you can avail a Kylie Liquid Lipstick for about Php 1,700, while a lip kit costs about Php 2,200 before shipping fees. Some of the products are out of stock but it revolves around that price range. For example, a Kylighter would cost you Php 1,850 for one shade, while a duo-shade highlighter from Fenty would cost you about Php 2,400.  I’m sure that the grams wouldn’t be far off from each other. For the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation, you can avail one for about Php 2,000 per 32 ml bottle. I mean, not bad for a brand that’s almost luxury and with the right shade,  it’s a good investment over other foundations. The price range isn’t at all that different. One or a couple thousand for a product.

In conclusion, it’s really up to your preference! Fenty Beauty and Kylie have very different products that it is almost hard to be comparing them. They have their strengths! And I think that it’s always the wise choice to go for a line’s flagship products, but if you’re the adventurous type, go for bold choices! Do you like Kylie beauty more?
