Just in! Ateneo Blue Eagles’ Back-To-Back Championship is real! The Blue Eagles have defended their title and reigns once more!

For the second time, Ateneo Blue Eagles are crowned as the kings of the court! After the unexpected “Battle of Katipunan“, Ateneo came out stronger against the UP Fighting Maroons, 99-81.

In the do-or-die Game 2, the Blue Eagles claimed their 10th UAAP championship in men’s basketball. It was a harsh battle between the kings and the underdogs. The Fighting Maroons showed great resilience against the Blue Eagles. But in the end, the Blue Eagles’ prowess overpowered them.

Reigning Kings

The Blue Eagles started strong in the first half of the game. It was a slow but strong start with the help of their rookie point guard, SJ Belangel and Thirdy Ravena’s assists. But UP Fighting Maroons doubled their offense to catch up. Thanks to Paul Desiderio and Juan Gomez de Liano, they were able to close the score to 41-34 before the 1st half ended.

However, this did not scare the Blue Eagles as they launched their all-out offense and defense in the 2nd half. Though Bright Alhuetie tried to even out with the Blue Eagles, they did not break through. Ravena shot three points all over, whenever, that got the crowd going wild. Ange Kouame, even added extra muscle to the score, managed to widen the score gap.

The Blue Eagles finished the game with Ravena garnering a career-best of 38 points. This career-best was the highest in the UAAP finals in the past 15 years. The Blue Eagles won with 99-81, overwhelming the Fighting Maroons with their sheer talent and quick thinking.

It was definitely a milestone for Ateneo de Manila University with their astonishing victory. And kudos to the University of the Philippines for staying strong and showing that they still got what it takes to be in the Finals.

Again, congratulations to our reigning defending champions. The Ateneo Blue Eagles’ back-to-back championship is worth watching. We look forward to the next year to see if they’ll be able to keep their crowns. Soar high, Blue Eagles!
