Sony To Showcase “The Future of Gaming on PS5” This Thursday, June 11

After delaying a major reveal event to allow “more important voices to be heard”, Sony has announced the updated schedule for the unveiling of “the future of gaming” on PS5.

The delay was Sony’s response to the on-going anti-racism protests raging across the US, which had been triggered by the murder of 46-year-old George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.

In a June 8 blog announcement on their official blog site, Sid Shuman, Sony’s Senior Director and SIE Content Communications, confirmed the new date. “Hi all – thanks for being patient and understanding while we rescheduled this PS5 event for Thursday, June 11 at 1pm Pacific Time / 9pm BST. We needed to step aside so key voices could be heard during this historic and important time.”

“Now that the event is confirmed for June 11, I wanted to add that this pre-taped program will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second. This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home. The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect.”

Below is the updated event schedule in Asia.

Shuman also advised the readers to watch the live stream wearing earphones if they could. According to him, there would be some cool audio work in the show, and that it would be harder to appreciate the sound coming from cellphone or laptop speakers.

The show will run for more than an hour, providing gamers across the globe a first look at the games being played on PlayStation5. Sony also promised that this digital showcase is only part of a series of PS5 updates, as there would be more to come.
