The upcoming Resident Evil reboot has finally revealed the selection of actors and actresses giving new life to your beloved (and sometimes hated) Racoon City characters.

In addition to the live-action series adaptation and CG anime series being developed by Netflix, there’s another project in the works that will expand the Resident Evil franchise. We’re talking about a reboot of the film series based on Capcom’s classic zombie-survival game.

Spearheaded by Constantin Film, the remake will cover the origin story as portrayed on the original Resident Evil games, taking the fans all the way back to Racoon City in 1998, on the night when the viral outbreak began putting our favorite heroes into action.

Leading the new cast members is Maze Runner’s Kaya Scodelario, who will be playing as Claire Redfield. Hannah John-Kamen from Ant-Man and the Wasp is cast as the new Jill Valentine, alongside Robie Amell as Chris Redfield. Filling the role of Albert Wesker is Umbrella Academy‘s Tom Hopper, while Avan Jogia plays the US agent Leon S. Kennedy. William Birkin, one of the story’s main antagonists, will be portrayed by Yellowstone‘s Neal McDonough.

Resident Evil remake will be written and directed by Johannes Roberts who is just as excited as the fans over this project. “With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences,” said the British filmmaker, previously known for his works on 47 Meters Down.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, this reboot marks the third attempt currently going on at reintroducing the iconic zombie apocalyptic story. The first one is a live-action episodic series by Netflix, which follows the twins Jade and Billie Wesker. The other one is the computer-generated 3D anime titled ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness,’ set to premiere in 2021.
