Pokemon is Celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a Post Malone Concert

What do you get when a mega-popular franchise like Pokemon celebrates its 25th anniversary? A free concert featuring Post Malone, for one.

You heard it right. The Pokemon Company recently announced that it has teamed up with Universal Music Group for a virtual concert featuring the world-renowned American rapper, singer, and songwriter, Post Malone. The ‘Circles’ hitmaker is set to give a series of music performances that will kick off the brand’s commemoration of its 25th anniversary, which started in 1996 with the  Japanese release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green for the Game Boy.

The said concert is just one of the many highlights of the event, as it will be a year-long celebration. The Pokemon anniversary is February 27, and from then on, fans can only expect an extensive series of programs, major announcements, and lots of other unexpected surprises.

To hype fans even more, The Pokemon Company dropped a teaser trailer for the Post Malone concert across its various social media channels. “It’s the concert you never saw coming, Trainers. Don’t miss your chance to be front row for the Virtual Experience on #PokemonDay!” the company wrote in the caption, along with the link to their website that contains a timer counting down to the special event.

Aside from the rapper, Katy Perry is also set to perform as the premier artist headlining ‘P25 Music,’ a star-studded musical campaign whose details will be announced at the end of Post Malone’s virtual concert. Although the entire ‘P25’ lineup has yet to be named, Pokemon has promised that the campaign will showcase up-and-coming artists and award-winning global superstars.
