Activision finally reveals ‘Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.’

This major reveal puts an end to many months of rumors and leaks surfacing all over the gaming realm, confirming what most of us have known all along: that the new Call of Duty game will drop this year and it’s a Black Ops reboot. The announcement comes with a teaser trailer establishing the game’s official title and its central theme: Cold War.

A trailer filled with history

The teaser urges players to look back into the past to avoid repeating mistakes that, you know, could start a war. Activision actually says that this new CoD is based on real-life events, hence the reminder, “Know your history or be doomed to repeat it.”

The two-minute trailer titled ‘Know Your History’ features real TV interview footage with Yuri Bezmenov, a real-world Soviet defector and ex-KGB informant. In the game, Yuri warns of a spy with the codename of “Perseus,” who has apparently “infiltrated Western intelligence” to “subvert the U.S. to ensure Soviet dominance in the Arms Race.” The video also features stock footage of America in the ’60s and the ’70s.

Treyarch and Raven Software are the developers currently working behind ‘Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.’ While no proper release date has been announced, yet, it is assumed to be set to arrive for the PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Watch the first official teaser trailer below!
