The classic racing title ‘Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit’ is getting a modern-day revival, and the remastered version is already on its way to different platforms.
While the gaming world has seen an influx of explosive new titles, this is also an era of remakes and remasters. Well, not every player today had the chance to get their hands on the classics, so game publishers have been seizing the opportunity to reintroduce older properties to the younger audience.
Criterion’s 1998 smash hit ‘Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit’ is a case in point. The original cops-versus-robbers car chase game got its well-deserved remake from EA way back in 2010. However, it has been a decade since that happened, and obviously, a lot has changed in what gaming technology can do.
A decade later
This 2020, Criterion announced that the 2010 remake is getting remastered, arriving onto the current-gen consoles and the Nintendo Switch in November. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will bring in some massive overhauls, from visuals, game features, to the overall user experience as players find themselves once again in an action-packed drive across Seacrest County.
The remastered version will run at 3fps for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and at 60fps for PC. Players can also expect upgraded car models, redesigned photo mode, a whole new variety of in-game achievements. The Autolog system, which was a social network-like feature from the original game, will be getting a makeover, too.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered takes off on November 6th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and on November 13th for the Nintendo Switch. Watch the official reveal trailer below.
