Gone but never forgotten

Following the tragic death of Kobe Bryant in a helicopter accident, 2k Sports is offering an in-game tribute to the legendary basketball star through NBA 2K20. 

Upon logging in, players are immediately greeted with a simple black and white memorial title card.

It can also be seen in as a billboard in NBA 2K20’s The Neighborhood hub world.

Kobe is a former basketball player for Los Angeles Lakers who retired in 2016 and has been a big influence on and off the court. And speaking of off the court, he has been the cover athlete for NBA 2K10 and has been a playable player for the longest time. Considering his mark in the sport, many people are grieving his loss.

In their own way of giving homage to the star, fans have gathered and created a virtual virgil in the online social spaces for NBA 2K20 while wearing Bryant’s Lakers jersey.

On January 26, Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Maria, and seven other individuals, were killed in a helicopter crash while on the way to a youth basketball practice in Thousand Oaks.

With that being said, rest in paradise, Kobe. #MambaOut
