League of Legends’ very own KPOP group ‘K/DA’ is about to make things official, announcing their plan to release their first-ever album.

Well, there’s a lot to unpack here, starting from the fact that the widely acclaimed MOBA does have its own KPOP act. For the unfamiliar, let us give you a quick backstory.

K/DA first came into existence in 2017. During the annual League of Legends World Championships held in Beijing, the American pop-rock band ‘Against the Current’ graced the stage with their performance of ‘Legends Never Die’ for the opening ceremony. It was a goosebumps-inducing production, which ended with a massive virtual dragon landing onto the arena. While this explosive event was already almost impossible to top, Riot Games had to come up with something that would make the next year’s Worlds even bigger.

Meet K/DA.

The 2018 League of Legends World Championship took place in South Korea– a country responsible for one of the biggest music genres today: KPOP. The team behind LOL noticed an opportunity of a lifetime here and decided they needed to create something upholding the Korean pop music, resulting in the formation of K/DA.

K/DA is a four-piece, all-girls group composed of virtual pop stars with their respective superstar counterparts in the real life. Comprising this unique KPOP act are Ahri and Akali, voiced by (G)I-dle members Miyeon and Soyeon, respectively, and Kai’Sa and Evelynn, brought to life by the voices of American singers Jaira Burns and Madison Beer, respectively.

Introducing themselves to the world at Worlds 2018 in Incheon, South Korea, they performed their first single ‘POP/STARS.’ Needless to say, the group was quick to earn their spot in the hearts of the audience. Their debut single went on to conquer both iTunes and Billboard charts, having been streamed over 170 times across digital platforms worldwide. The accompanying music video is also hailed as the most successful debut for a KPOP group in YouTube history, with over 377 million views to date since its release in November 2018.

After a two-year hiatus, K/DA announced their sophomore single in August this year. Titled ‘THE BADDEST,’ the track serves as the prelude to what is going to be their debut album.

Riot Games revealed on October 2 that K/DA would be dropping their EP called ‘ALL OUT.’ The announcement was made via the group’s official Twitter page, which unveils the EP cover and the release date.

‘ALL OUT’ is slated to release on all digital platforms on November 6, 2020. While we have yet to find out what or how many tracks will be included in the album, we can expect their previously released singles to be part of it. In the meantime, you can check out K/DA’s songs on Spotify and other digital streaming platforms.
