Catch Lea Salonga singing the official theme song of the 2019 SEA Games, ‘We Win As One’!

The world-renowned actress Lea Salonga has been our country’s pride for the past years because of her incredible talent in singing. She has made quite a name through her iconic roles in plays like ‘Les Misérables’, Miss Saigon, and many more! Now, she brings honor, yet again, to the Philippines as she has been picked to sing the official theme song of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, ‘We Win As One’.

On Tuesday, the official Youtube account of the 30th Southeast Asian Games released the music video of ‘We Win As One’. And as of now, it has garnered over 20,000 views.

Lea took it to Twitter to make the announcement of her involvement in this song. Lea also said that ‘We Win As One’ is composed by Ryan Cayabyab and written by Floy Quintos.

Let’s unite

According to Lea, this opportunity means so much to her as it will bring serve as an inspiration for the athletes who will compete in the upcoming games.

“It feels fantastic, it feels wonderful to represent the Philippines in your own country,” Lea said. The intention is not just to entertain, I hope people like the song, but I hope that it serves as pride and inspiration for the athletes.”

Sad to say, Lea will not be performing the song live at the opening ceremony of the 30th SEA Games due to prior commitments. Ryan Cayabyab, however, is working on a SEA Games music album with other artists. Even though Lea will not be there, we will still see music talents holding up the Filipino pride for us. It’s still unknown who the artists will be, so make sure to stay tuned!

Esports in SEA Games

The upcoming SEA Games will be very monumental for the country. Why? Because it has since been 14 years since the Philippines last hosted the SEA Games. But even more, we will be hosting the SEA Games with esports as part of the games for the first time ever! Ahhh. What a time to be alive!

The Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) announced last year that Dota 2, Starcraft 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Tekken 7, and Hearthstone will be part of the list of SEA Games. It will be the first time esports will be celebrated as medal sport alongside volleyball, basketball, other athletic sports!

Sibol will be the Philippines’official esports team which will represent us in the SEA GAMES. And just recently, the pool tournament in choosing the athletes has ended. So in case you’re wondering what went down with choosing the representatives for the SEA Games (esports division), catch it here:

So let’s support all of our players in the upcoming SEA Games and uphold our country’s pride! The 30th SEA Game will be held from November 30 to December 11, 2019.
