With 2019 starting, the Dota 2 scene is now getting some action. After the conclusion of the WePlay Winter Madness, the next tournament is the Bucharest Minor.
The Bucharest Minor is the second minor for the 2018-2019 DPC season. It’s going to be PGL’s first overall Minor tournament. The event will be happening at Bucharest, Romania from January 9 to 13, 2019.
Qualifying teams from Europe are OG and Ninjas in Pyjamas. While for China, it will be Keen Gaming and EHOME. TEAM TEAM will represent North America and Playmaker Esports for South America. And last but not the least, Gambit Esports for CIS Region and Boom ID for SEA region. The 8 teams are already divided into two groups for the Group Stage.
The Group Stage Distribution
Gambit Esports, Keen Gaming, NiP, and TEAM TEAM will be Group A. While Group B will be OG, Boom ID, EHOME, and Playmaker. The Group Stage will have a Double Elimination bracket. All matches will be Best of 23. The top 2 teams of each group will advance to the upper brackets in playoffs. While the bottom 2 teams of each group will be seeded to the lower bracket of the playoffs.
As of now, the first day of the Minor has ended. So far, Gambit Esports and Keen Gaming have secured their slots in the upper bracket. This means NiP and Team Teams are dropped down to the lower bracket. Group B’s matches will start today with OG vs Boom ID and Playmakers vs EHOME. The Bucharest Minor will be hosted by Redeye and cast by TobiWan, syndereN, KillerPigeon, and Lacoste.
The grand winner will take home $300,000 USD and 500 Pro Circuit Points. And most importantly, the winner will automatically qualify to the Chongqing Major.
