Are you ready to hit the slopes again?

After 19 years since it came to popularity, there’s a possibility that a remake or remastered version of the classic snowboarding title, SSX Tricky, according to the game’s producer, Steven Rechtschaffner.

In an interview with LADbible, he said:  “Xbox did a good job at re-releasing SSX 3 for Xbox One and it’s beautiful actually.”

Following the SSX series, SSX 3 was released in 2003 originally for  GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It was later made available on Xbox One with many fans receiving it greatly.

Rechtschaffner, however, clarified that even though he has thought of the concept already, it’s still up to EA, who owns the intellectual property of the game.

Standing the test of time

Further explaining what it would mean to reboot the game, Rechtschaffner believes that it could be done. But there would be changes needed to be made to “have live head-to-head competition and gameplay”.

“It was never meant to be a snowboard game for snowboarders. It was meant to be a game for a person like me who sees these activities and sees things I’ve never seen before and thinks ‘that would be so cool to be able to do‘.”

As of now, Rechtschaffner and his new studio SuperNatural are working with some of the SSX team to create another game following SSX 3 which would support modern-day gaming.

For those who are unaware, the SSX series ran from 2000 to 2012 and has snatched a place in many fans’ hearts from their childhood because of its iconic characters, gameplay, and of coure, who could forget its catchy background music?
