Mark your calendars, Pokémon trainers! Pokémon Sword and Shield will release globally this coming November 15 and it’s a brand new world!
Ahead of their schedule for E3 2019, Nintendo reveals its biggest games for Switch yet. In a trailer they posted, they introduced two new Pokémon installment, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.
In case you don’t know, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be the first main series of the eight generation ofPokémon. Based on the stream, both installment showcase howPokémon has changed all throughout the years. It introduces a new world to explore, new gameplay, battle mechanics and additions to the ever-growing pool of Pokémon to catch.
You’ll get to play as the main character who embarks on a journey in Galar Region. You can tinker the appearance of your avatar for a bit.
Galar Region is where you will begin your Pokémon journey. Unique locations are to be discovered, with towns, cities, and nature itself. In Galar Region, Pokemon are regarded highly, working side by side with humans in their daily lives. Just like in the movie “Detective Pikachu” where humans have Pokémons join their workforce.
Pokémons at Galar Region
You’ll begin your adventure with any of the three starter Pokémons. You can choose from Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Grookey is a grass-type mischievous Chimp perfect for curious trainers. If you want one bouncing with energy, then the fire-type Scorbunny should be your partner. But if want a cute and chill-looking friend, then the water-type lizard Sobble should be your go-to.
Aside from them, Galar Region shelters new Pokémons too. There’s a flower Pokémon called Gossiefleur, a cute-looking sheep called Wooloo and Corviknight, a raven. On a side note, Corviknight doubles as a shuttle for traveling trainers too!
And of course, the legendary Pokémons shrouding Galar Region with mystery are Zacian and Zamazenta. There aren’t many details included about the two mysterious looking dogs. All we know is that Zacian possesses a sword he holds in his mouth. On the other hand, Zamazenta’s body is covered by a shield.
Dynamax and Max Raid Battles
Furthermore, there are new battle features in Sword and Shield! You’re probably seen the Pokémons becoming huge like Kaijus in the trailer. Dynamax refers to a phenomenon at Galar Region where Pokémons are able to take on gigantic appearances. Not only do Pokémons get bigger during Dynamax but they also grow stronger. Take note, you can only Dynamax on Pokémon per battle. And there are specific locations where Pokémons are allowed to Dynamax, like the stadiums of Pokémon Gyms.
In addition to that, you can join forces with other trainers for Max Raid Battles. It’s a new battle format that allows trainers to team up with three other trainers to take on wild Dynamax Pokémons. You can participate in Max Raid Battles when you are in the Wild Area. The wild Dynamax Pokémons you can encounter varies on your location at the Wild Area or what the weather is like. Being observant and wary is the key!
The release of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield coincides with the release of Death Stranding and Star Wars’ first single player game. Be sure to tune in for more details about the new Pokémon installment for Nintendo Switch to love!
