It’s real, everyone. We finally hit the second month of a new decade. And with it comes big milestones for some classic games we’ve all known and loved throughout the years. Recently, our favorite social virtual simulation game The Sims celebrated its 20th anniversary. Following this, here are some other titles having their 20th birthday this 2020!

This realistically FPS game was originally a warfare mod for Half-Life until Valve acquired the rights and was released on the Microsoft Windows platform in November 9, 2000. Since then, it has become a global phenomenon leading to the latest of the series Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Players are group into two factions wherein one will be a team of terrorists battle, perpetrating an act of terror and the other is a group of counter-terrorists trying to prevent it.

Final Fantasy IX

Final Fantasy IX is the ninth installation of the Final Fantasy series made for the PlayStation which was published in July 7, 2000. Set in the fictional world of Gaia, players will assume the role of a bandit named Zidane Tribal, who kidnaps Alexandrian princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, for the greater good of his nation.

Diablo II

Most notable for its its dark fantasy and horror themes, Diablo II has been referred to as one of the best games in 2000s by many. It’s an “action role-playing hack-and-slash computer video game” developed by Blizzard in June 29, 2000 for Microsoft Windows which was shortly followed by Classic Mac OS and for macOS.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

Released in April 27, 2000 for Nintendo 64 as part of the The Legend of Zelda series, it was the second video game of the franchise to use 3D graphics. Aside from this, it was also widely acclaimed for its complex plot following Link as he sets out to save Termina, an alternate reality to Ocarina of Time’s Hyrule, which is to be destroyed along with its inhabitants in three days by a giant falling moon.

Deus Ex

Last but not least we have Deus Ex. It was in 2000 when this title was first introduced and made success, becoming a world-selling series to date. Follow the story of JC Denton, an agent of the fictional agency United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO), who is given superhuman abilities by nanotechnology to fight against foes who aim to bring destruction to the world.

What we love about this game is its cyberpunk elements and the conspiracies that brings him into conflict with the Triads, Majestic 12, and the Illuminati.
