‘Fall Guys’ is a chaotic battle royale that’s gonna remind you of Takeshi’s Castle

Brace yourself for the most chaotic battle royale in the most fun way!

A horde of players put through a series of insane and unpredictable obstacle courses until one of them is hailed as the champion, if that sounds familiar to you then you’ve most probably watched Takeshi’s Castle before. What if we told you there’s an upcoming game inspired by that iconic show?

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is gonna be the closest thing you’ll ever get to experiencing being an actual player in those classic, brutal-yet-hilarious, Japanese obstacle TV shows.

Developed by Mediatonic, it’s the most interesting take on a battle royale, yet: 6o players with customizable costumes will be racing across a series of obstacle courses while competing in a variety of challenges with the goal of not being eliminated. Players who failed to survive or make the cut in a level will be kept in a lobby, and those who survived will move onto the next stages. In the end, only one will be crowned as the champion, so you better do whatever it takes to make it alive even if that means pushing a friend off the map.

According to the creators, there will be 25 rounds in total upon launch. To keep the fun and vibrancy alive, challenges within each round will differ. Apart from the races and passing through obstacle courses, players will also get to compete in team fights and survival “last man standing” games. Interestingly, they’ve also added logic and memory games.

Fall Guys promises to be that game where failing can also be fun. Usually, when you play battle royales, it can be frustrating to lose due to the competitive environment. But here, despite the competition, there’s the element of just having pure enjoyment even if your cute, quirky character keeps on getting crushed by massive hammers. It’s the perfect party game for everyone.

Fall Guys will be launching on PlayStation 4 and PC on August 4th. Check out the trailer below!
