TNC Predator raised the Philippine flag, yet again, during the ESL One tournament! Read here to find out more!

After managing to close the gap against Gambit Esports in a best-of-5 series, TNC Predator emerged as our Electronic Sports League (ESL) One 2019 Dota 2 champions in Hamburg, Germany on Sunday, October 27!

They were able to bag an astounding amount of $125,000. And gave another prestigious moment for the country being the first-ever Southeast Asian winners of the said tournament.

It was a tight match between the two teams with TNC Predator starting in a good 23-minute run for the first match. But Gambit Esports quickly retaliated with Danil “gpk” Skutin’s Ember Spirit and Kiyalbek “dream`” Tayirov’s Gyrocopter, easily letting them bag the second match.

Setting up for 1-1 standing, TNC changed their tactics and switched on their offensive with Armel “Armel” Tabios’ Templar Assassin.

With TNC taking Game 3, Gambit Esports was holding on a very thin thread, it was all or nothing for them but they still managed to win, resulting in an intense last set for both of the teams.

But it all went down to TNC Predator prevailing victory over Gambit Esports thanks to a spectacular play from Armel’s Alchemist together with Gabbi’s Bristleback. And with that, the last match for the championship title ended in 30 minutes with TNC steamrolling to victory!

Struggles along the way

In case you didn’t know, TNC’s roster had to undergo major changes after their The International 2019 run, which resulted in two of their members leaving the group. Particularly, their team captain Nico “eyyou” Barcelon and the face of TNC ever since, Carlos “Kuku” Palad. They were replaced by imports such as Park Tae-won and Damien Chok for Position 5 and Position 3, respectively.

Despite this, they were able to prove they were going no way but up after being named as the Philippine representatives at WESG!

And now, they are our first-ever Southeast Asian team to win ESL One! We can only expect more from TNC after their amazing performance at Hamburg. What could be next for this dream team?
