Hearthstone’s newest expansion, Madness at the Darkmoon Faire featuring the return of the Old Gods, new keyword: Corrupt and, a new game mode called Duels, arrives on November 18th.

What is Hearthstone?

It is a free-to-play online digital collectible card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Released in March 2014, Hearthstone is a turn-based collectible card game that pits two opponents against each other.

Players select a hero from one of ten classes. All classes have unique cards and abilities, known as hero powers, which help define class archetypes. Each player uses a deck of cards from their collection with the end goal being to reduce the opponent’s health to zero. There are four different types of cards: minions, spells, weapons, and hero cards.

The newest expansion of Hearthstone is called Madness at the Darkmoon Faire with the Old Gods returning with new interactions. They also introduced a new game called Duels. Last but not the least, they updated their progression and rewards for the players to receive more rewards.

Old Gods Made New

On April 26, 2016, Whispers of the Old Gods was released. Now they’re returning with new unique interactions. C’Thun, N’Zoth, Y’Shaarj, and, Yogg-Saron, the legendaries will return with extra firepower to decimate your opponents.

New Cards and New Keyword: Corrupt

In every new expansion there will be a new set of cards that creates a new interaction with the previous cards that makes unique combos and decks. Along with the new cards, a new keyword is introduced: Corrupt. Corrupt cards upgrade in your hand after you play a higher cost card. Plan ahead and upgrade your Corrupt cards before playing them for a major payoff!

New Game Mode: Duels

With the new expansion comes a new game mode, Duels. Duels mixes the fun of a Dungeon Run with the excitement of head-to-head competition. In Duels, you’ll choose a Hero, a Hero Power, a signature Treasure, and build a 15-card starter deck from your collection before facing off against a series of worthy human opponents. Between each match, you’ll level up your deck by adding minions, spells, and powerful Treasures!

Revamping Progression & Rewards

On top of the new expansion and game mode, they’ve completely overhauled their progression and rewards systems. Set to be Hearthstone’s biggest systems update ever, the progression revamp includes four major parts:

  • The addition of an Achievements System that tracks your in-game accomplishments.
  • A central Reward Track for all earnable rewards outside of Ranked play.
  • A Quest Revamp that supports daily and weekly quests.
  • An updated Profile Page with player info, ranks, and stats.

You’ll be able to access each of these pages by clicking on a new Journal icon that will replace the Quest Log on the main menu.
