Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If there’s one redeeming aspect of 2020, it’s that Switch gamers were able to have plenty amount of time playing this life-simulation Nintendo exclusive. New Horizons is the fifth installment of the iconic Animal Crossing series and provides players a getaway island where they can build the island life of their dreams. Much of the game’s charm can be attributed to its social feature, which allows players to hang out with one another. Relaxing, addictive, and constantly offers something new to look forward to, it’s the ultimate escape one can have in these trying times.


The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time, Breath of the Wild is a 2017 action-adventure RPG that allows players to go on an epic quest across the massive, fully-detailed, explorable kingdom of Hyrule. The story is set at the end of the famous Zelda timeline and chronicles the journey of Link, who wakes up from a hundred-year slumber to defeat the powerful Calamity Ganon.

Hailed as a Nintendo masterpiece, the game is mostly applauded for its exceptional attention to detail and open-ended gameplay. With over 20 million copies sold by the year 2020, Breath of the Wild is currently the highest-selling Zelda title of all time and also one of the best selling video games ever.


Super Mario 3D All Stars

A commemoration of Super Mario franchise’s 35th anniversary in 2020, Super Mario 3D All Stars is three legendary 3D platformers packed into one game. Consisting of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, this package brings players on a fun, nostalgic ride across the evolution of 3D Mario games, starting from the Nintendo 64 era all the way to the age of modern wii.



Another breakout title in 2020 is the isometric, roguelike action RPG by Supergiant Games, which is a massive treat for anyone who is into Greek mythology. Built around the narrative-driven gameplay, it follows Zagreus, the son of Hades, in his quest to reach Mount Olympus. With its compelling plot, fluid combat system, and unique take on the roguelike genre, critics would agree that Hades is a strong contender for best game of the year.


Pokemon Sword and Shield

Sword and Shield takes the tried-and-tested formula that has kept the Pokemon series still succeeding up to this day, and adds innovations that make the game another addictively thrilling experience. Despite the naysayers, many Switch players are calling it one of the best games in the series so far, so that’s enough reason for you to get this game ASAP.
