One Direction member Niall Horan will be coming to Manila next year in support for his solo debut album “Flicker” which came out a little over a week ago. This marks his second performance on Philippine soil, the first being with One Direction in March 2015.
After getting off a rocky start on “The X Factor”, Horan was put into a group of four other boys who also failed to move on to the competition. He along with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik formed One Direction and eventually finished third in the competition. Music industry executive and TV show judge Simon Cowell signed the group to a multimillion pound record deal with his label Syco right after, and the group released five chart-topping albums before their indefinite hiatus.
Horan announced plans for a solo album a few months after the release of the group’s last album. “Flicker” took a year and a half to write and produce with an all-star team: award-winning producers Spike Stent (Ed Sheeran, Linkin Park, Oasis) and Greg Kurstin (Adele, Lily Allen, Foo Fighters), co-writers Jamie Scott (Major Lazer, 5SOS, The Vamps) and Matt Rad (Martin Garrix, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Hives) just to name a few.
“Flicker” takes inspiration from classic rock bands like Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, bands that Horan enjoyed following when playing the guitar. Three singles from the album have been released so far, the first being “This Town” last September 2016, “Slow Hands” in May, and “Too Much to Ask” in September of this year. The album debuted atop the Billboard 200, tying One Direction with the Beatles for most members with a solo US number-one album.
Niall Horan will be performing on June 10, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Ticket prices fall at PHP6,784 for VVIP Standing, PHP 5,512 for VIP Seating and Patron, PHP4,240 for Lower Box, and P2,968 for Upper Box. Tickets go on sale November 5 via smtickets.com and SM Ticket outlets nationwide.
