A (History) Lesson in Romantics

After the band’s June 2006 ‘Tales Told by Dead Friends’ EP sold 10,000 copies, Mayday Parade signed a deal with Fearless Records two months after. They recorded and released their debut album ‘A Lesson in Romantics’ in July 2007 as well as joining that year’s edition of Warped Tour. This album cycle lasted two years all in all; the band released ‘Jamie All Over’ and ‘When I Get Home, You’re So Dead’ as singles, then ‘Miserable at Best’ as a music video. The album remains to be their most commercially successful album.

A Decade Later

The band has remained active with their music, putting out an album every two years. Their most recent album ‘Black Lines’ received generally favorable reviews from critics, noting the band’s versatility and desire to experiment.

To celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary, the band released a new music video for ‘Black Cat’ last January. Additionally, a 10th anniversary edition of the album including demos was made available two months after. Album producer Kenneth Mount called out the band’s failure to give credit to ex-singer Jason Lancaster on the track-by-track commentary.

Mayday Parade embarked on their 10th Anniversary Tour earlier this March. Tour dates cover the United States and Canada, Europe, Manila, Australia, and New Zealand.

BONUS: Pop punk royalty All Time Low is dropping by Manila, too! Both shows are brought to you by PULP Live World.
