If you’re really interested in taking that special someone to the Van Gogh Alive exhibit, you should at least have a little knowledge about who Van Gogh is. So here are some interesting facts you can share with your date during the exhibit:

  1. His full name is Vincent Willem van Gogh, he was a Dutch post-impressionist painter. And is one of the most influential figures in Western Art.
  2. Did you know that Van Gogh cut off his own ear? It was because he suffered from delusions. And in a fight with fellow artist Paul Gauguin he ended up getting so riled up he cut off his left ear and gave it to a prostitute named Rachel.
  3. He only started painting at the age of 27, and he managed to produce 2,100 artworks before he died at the age of 37.
