WoahKay is about to drop an EP and she wants you to be a part of it!

That’s right! WoahKay is releasing her new EP called ‘KINTSUGI: Scars and Histories’, and the idea behind it is both clever and beautiful. For some of us who are not familiar with “kintsugi”, we did the liberty of conducting some research!

“Kintsugi” is the art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed powdered gold, silver, or platinum. I’m pretty sure you’ve come across this on your social media timelines once or twice.

There is something beautiful about naming the EP after kintsugi. Kintsugi treats the breaking of the pottery as a part of its history rather than hiding that it has been broken in the process of repair. It is patched up with gold, silver or platinum, making the piece even more valuable for having been broken.

Many people have related kintsugi to our lives as people. Being broken isn’t something to be ashamed about. In fact, we become more beautiful and more valuable for having been broken and putting ourselves back together. We think that’s the essence behind naming the EP as such. “Scars and Histories” is just fitting. By this, we already know that the EP is going to be so raw and pure. A chance to show off past scars and histories, and believe that we are still beautiful individuals, or even more beautiful for having been broken.

What a clever idea! We sure hope to feel these through WoahKay’s new songs in the launch.

Fittingly, WoahKay also set up an artistic photo of herself as her profile on Facebook which is related to kintsugi, and it is strikingly beautiful.

It’s kintsugi all the same, but this time, she took to the symbolism and made herself the pottery which was broken, and repaired with gold.

The soloist is releasing her EP in time for her birthday celebration. Based on how she described it, the songs are going to be about letting go, holding on, and keeping your distance. And let’s keep it real, we all know we love anything from those themes!

Not only that, but you can also catch performances from other artists such as FourPlay, SCOTT, Francis, tidal/, Jeany, Walt Grace, Hannah, Ten, Crow Catcher, Franz, and Alfonso! If that lineup doesn’t make you want to scramble up to your feet on the launch day, I don’t know what will! One thing is for sure, we won’t miss this!

Give us the deets!

Of course, we’re not letting you off without giving you the details! The entrance fee is P150 inclusive of 1 free drink! You can also avail of the EP which will be sold at 200 (Physical Copy) and 150 (Unique Download Code) + PAKYU themed sticker for both! What a deal! For that great of music, I’d spare the dime! The launch will be held at Tomato Kick on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 7 PM – 1 AM!

This being said, I’m definitely bringing my friends to the launch! Are you as excited as we are for WoahKay’s EP launch?  Share us your thoughts on the comments down below! Or hit us up on our Facebook or Twitter @UDoUPh. We’ll see you there!
