Green Day is one of the pinnacles of rock and roll. As a matter of fact, last 2015 they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They have paved the way for punk rock as they caught a lot of mainstream interest. ‘Cause really, who won’t enjoy their music?
But since March 2020 is still 5 months away, click the play buttons below for now and enjoy as we pick 5 of our most favorite songs by Green Day!
Headbang with us like there’s no tomorrow!
In no certain order we have:
Welcome to a new kind of tension
All across the alienation
Where everything isn’t meant to be okay
Television dreams of tomorrow
We’re not the ones who’re meant to follow
For that’s enough to argue
‘American Idiot’ is one of the band’s signature songs. The song is a criticism of mass media, specifically American news. Although we can’t fully relate to the ‘American’ experience, we can’t deny that the song makes us think about certain things in our society.
To be honest, I think this song would really fit one of the episodes of ‘Black Mirror‘ with the same theme. That would be really cool!
When it’s time to live and let die
And you can’t get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You’re in ruins
This song was released 10 years ago, so the wave of nostalgia it brings is intense.
We remember this specific music video because, during its time, it was always on TV channels like MYX and MTV. We can’t complain though because we can listen to it over and over again!
¡Viva La Gloria!
Eternal youth is a landscape of a lie
The cracks in my skin can prove
As the years will testify
We may not notice it much on a small scale, but time really goes fast.
According to Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, this song is about losing the naivety we had when we were younger.
We become detached and less curious as we become more experienced and so he asks, “how do you keep that spark?”. We also want to know, Billy Joe.
Wake Me Up When September Ends
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
Frankly, we think a lot of people who don’t know much about Green Day knows about this song nevertheless.
It’s also possible that some people who now love Green Day knew them because of this song.
Plus, along with Earth, Wind & Fire’s ‘September’, almost everybody on the start of the month mentions this song. That’s how iconic and popular it is! We know you know it, so sing along!
This song is a personal favorite because of the quiet impact it brought. Together with the feeling of loss and longing. we are confronted by how our memories can be fleeting.
I made a point to burn all of the photographs
She went away and then I took a different path
I remember the face but I can’t recall the name
Now I wonder how whatsername has been
IT HONESTLY HURTS. Especially the lines:
And in the darkest night
If my memory serves me right
I’ll never turn back time
Forgetting you, but not the time
We apologize for quoting a lot of the lyrics but we just want to emphasize how much we love this song, which is A LOT.
Father of All
Do you know this one? We are very thrilled to share this with you because it’s Green Day’s NEWEST RELEASE which came out just yesterday.
I’m impressed with the presence of none
I’m possessed by the heat of the sun
Hurry up cause I’m making a fuss
‘Cause there’s no one to trust
We love it already!
