Eraserheads is such a huge part of the OPM scene, naming them as “The Beatles” of the Philippines. The band—consisting of Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan—was formed at the University of the Philippines. They may have had their good and tough times since they got together in 1989, but compared to the other bands, they managed to keep it together with no replacement members whatsoever.
Undoubtedly leaving a legacy that forever resonates in our hearts, their famous song Ang Huling El Bimbo is something that we’ll all sing along every time it’s in the radio, even one of the must-sing tracks at KTVs. Their songs are also featured in Pinoy films like The Reunion!
Eheads has other songs that force us to reminisce memories from our childhood as we grew up playing them in our cassette tapes and discman–memories that linger as we danced on our prom, the time we had our first crush, first heartbreak. They were even able to capture the story of our typical fights with our barkada and parents.
So take your childhood reminiscing to the next level as Ang Huling El Bimbo Musical is actually happening this month at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila from July 20 to August 26. The month-long musical tells a story of friendship—and what better way to express it than through Eheads songs?
Take this opportunity as a way to reunite with old friends (and even past loves), at the end of it all you’ll realize how much you’ve grown as a person. We can expect nostalgic feels, and if you want to experience it further, APO Hiking Society also has a musical tribute this August.
