Lucifer fans have another reason to celebrate! Aside from getting renewed for a sixth (and final?) season by Netflix this past June, they are also getting the first trailer for the fifth season.

We were all kept in limbo after the huge cliffhanger at the end of Season 4, but now our thirst has been quenched for the time being. We just have to hold on until August 21, when it drops on Netflix!

Moreover, the crime series returns to the streaming giant with 16 episodes split into two parts, with the trailer showing bits and pieces of the first eight.

Sibling Rivalry

Well, it seems like not only us mere mortals experience sibling rivalry, even celestial beings are not immune to it. The trailer took a very brave turn to throw an unexpected twist at its fans.

In a typical Lucifer fashion, the devil makes his grand return but turns out it’s not Lucifer who returns to the mortal world first, but his twin brother (!) Michael. At first glance, it seems like the time spent in the underworld has altered Lucifer’s personality, and but after a fight with Maze, the truth is revealed. Michael is here, and he wants to take over Lucifer’s life.

With that being said, this sets up an explosive season, especially because Michael is a wildcard. Although, it’s evident that his arrival is going to make things more complicated, especially Lucifer’s relationship with Chloe. The ensuing showdown between the brothers is surely a must-see! Overall, it looks to be a pretty intriguing season that fans are going to look forward to.

Keep in mind that this is only Part 1 of 2 of the fifth season. The first eight episodes will drop in August, while the latter half will be released at a later date.

Lucifer Season 5 premieres on Friday, Aug. 21 on Netflix.

Check out the trailer below!

I am not going to break Lucifer’s life, I’m gonna take it.

As the trailer shows, the gang of Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, D.B. Woodside, Aimee Garcia, and Kevin Alejandro are all back.
