Excited to watch ‘Weathering With You’? Sad to say, its screening is set a week after its initial release date. Here’s why!

Director Makoto Shinkai is hoping for a comeback with ‘Weathering With You’ (Tenki No Ko) as his sixth anime feature film after the success of ‘Kimi No Na Wa’ in 2016, being the highest-grossing animated film in PH theaters.

SM Cinema originally announced a single screening date on August 21, 2019. But two weeks later, Anime Movies Philippines, the official Facebook page of Pioneer Films, announced that it will be pushed to August 28, 2019, due to audience-related concerns.

But it is still unclear whether this will be the only release date or how long will it be shown in PH cinemas.

According to the page, the reason for the change of schedule was to reach a wider audience.

“We will be able to get more cinemas on August 28 so we can reach more fans, especially the ones in the province. Hope you understand and still support us on opening day.”

No worries though, there’s a pre-screening date set on August 17 and August 21 at SM Megamall. Stay tuned to Anime Movies Philippines to win a slot for these preview dates. If luck isn’t by your side then you can buy your ticket for PHP800.00.

Not familiar with the film yet? ‘Weathering With You’ is about Hokoda, a high school teenage boy who runs away from home to Tokyo. At the same time, he befriends Hina, a girl who has the power to create sunny weather for a short period.

‘Weathering With You’ tells the budding romance between Hokoda and Hina. It also shows how her powers hold a deeper secret that will change Tokyo forever.
