In a year where anything bizarre can happen, the sudden death of a celebrity seems like a ‘new normal’ thing now.

That is why everyone freaked out when news broke out that Marshall Bruce Mathers III, professionally known as Eminem, has died.

#RIPEminem

Palms sweaty, knees weak– that’s how many of his fans felt after a now-suspended Twitter user tweeted, “I have killed Eminem,” triggering an eruption of posts asking if the rap god has, indeed, joined the one, true God in the heaven.

While the source of the death scare was merely a bad attempt at shitposting, the rumor spread like wildfire as the hashtag #RIPEminem was already joining the top trending topics on Twitter.

BRUH I THOUGHT EMINEM ACTUALLY DIED CAUSE IT’S 2020 AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN BUT IT’S JUST YALL PLAYING TOO MUCH AGAIN #ripeminem,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Is he dead?

You can’t kill a god, can you? But on a serious note, as far as we know, Eminem is very much alive. No official statement from the rapper’s team has been issued to confirm the death scare.

Meanwhile, though, a lot of Twitter users have been hopping onto the trending hashtag to promote their creativity. What started out as a brief death scare has quickly turned into a hilarious deluge of memes.
