A pitiful glimpse on Harley Quinn and the ‘Birds of Prey’

In a newly released trailer for DC movie ‘Birds of Prey’, Harley Quinn declares that people should be afraid of her more than the Joker.

We are not really seeing why we should believe Harley Quinn’s strong statements, though. Margot Robbie is an amazing actress and fits Harley really well, but her character is not just that appealing for us anymore. Not after this.

Because for us, the trailer for ‘Birds of Prey’ only showed a pathetic glimpse of the movie’s plot. There seems to be no clear conflict; the other ‘Birds of Prey’ weren’t even introduced, and Harley’s narration seem to be unsuitable for the badass vibe that the trailer was going for.

But if you don’t even have an idea of what we are talking about yet, first watch the trailer for ‘Birds of Prey’ below!

Does it mean anything at all?

There are 3 types of movie trailers: one that’s filled with too much information that you felt you already watched the whole movie, one that’s too vague to know what to expect from the movie, and one that’s just right. Unfortunately, ‘Birds of Prey’ falls under the second category.

If you scroll through the YouTube comments on the trailer, you would see a lot of negative reactions that would explain why the trailer is disappointing and ineffective.

Let’s take a look at some:

Honestly, we were also reluctant to check out the trailer for ‘Birds of Prey’ because of the big disappointment that was ‘Suicide Squad’. The aforementioned movie also featured Harley Quinn but was also criticized for sexualizing her character too much. In the ‘Birds of Prey’ trailer, thankfully there weren’t any explicit shots of Harley’s bum or curves.

The 2-minute video was still disappointing though. It didn’t really show the other characters comprising the ‘Birds of Prey’, and just put the spotlight on Harley and her issues with ‘Joker‘. Maybe more trailers would be released soon, but for now, we literally have nothing to look forward to.

With all of that said, we’re just grateful that we didn’t expect much from the trailer. There are very slim chances that we’d watch the movie in the cinema, but watch out if ever we do!

‘Birds of Prey’ will be out next year on February 7, 2020.
